Caryopteris 'Gold Giant' Caryopteris ‘Gold Giant’ was bred for several outstanding characteristics: compact growth and longer blooming period. ‘Gold Giant’ is a dramatic shrub with bright golden foliage that doesn’t wash out and fade like the industry standard varieties. Rich blue flowers on erect stems bloom profusely in late August to September. Dark black stems highlight the foliage and flowers. An eye-catching plant even when it’s not in flower. ‘Gold Giant’ appears to lean more towards the hardier × clandonensis types than a true incana. It's also sturdier and more upright. ‘First Choice’ has shorter internodes than is typical for the species and presents a different landscape effect than existing cultivars - dense and compact, instead of wispy and open and can be used in mixed borders and as a general landscape plant. Your first and best choice for a fine addition to the garden. Origin: United Kingdom Description / Plant Notes: Patent Status: US Plant Patent # 22,175 |
