Caryopteris Sterling Silver (‘Lissilv’) For many years, the breeder Caryopteris Sterling Silver sought to combine intensely silver foliage with a prolific show of intense violet-blue flowers and after sowing and examining thousands of seedlings only one achieved his high standards - Sterling Silver (‘Lissilv'), Caryopteris Sterling Silver makes a neat rounded low shrub approximately 3 feet wide and 1.5 feet high. With its intensely silver foliage it makes a superb foliage plant from spring into the fall and then in late summer when a prolific show of intense violet-blue flowers appear. The leaves are very silver when dry going greenish when wet. Plants with both good foliage and good flowers are always welcome, especially in small gardens where the benefit of being rewarded by two seasons of color from one plant is invaluable. The plant was awarded a silver medal at Plantarium 2008. Origin: United Kingdom Description / Plant Notes: Patent Status: US Plant Patent #22,474 |
