Styrax ‘Fragrant Fountain’ is a richly fragrant new weeping Styrax japonica. This unique tree will grow upright with a terminal leader. All stems are strongly weeping. Perfect for smaller gardens, ‘Fragrant Fountain’ reaches only 6 feet high and 5 feet wide. It grows quickly and vigorously, but stays compact over its long lifetime.
Pleasantly fragrant white flowers cover the tight form from early spring through summer. 'Fragrant Fountain' is far more floriferous than earlier varieties. Dense, weeping habit and moderate growth rate make this small tree ideal for small garden plantings. Deciduous dark green leaves turn gold in the fall before dropping off. The multi-season appeal and quick growth of this compact shrub make it appealing for landscapes of all sizes. Perfect as a specimen in a small space, it's also a nice patio accent in a large container, and does well in the partly shaded border, threaded through fences, and draped over walls or terraces.
