Mystic Dahlia – Online Resource

Fall has been a great month for the marketing department here at PlantHaven. We have been working on lots of exciting projects ready for spring 2012. This month we’d like to introduce you to our new online resource for Dr Keith Hammett’s fabulous series of Mystic Dahlia’s. Fran and Robert have been busy this last month with a dedicated photo shoot, lots of the new images from this are now online on the new site. If you would like to use these for your promotion in 2012 please contact Fran who will be very happy to help you out. Check out the new online resource below. Spring Trials 2012 – New Location Announcement

PlantHaven is excited to announce our new location for Spring Trials 2012. We are proudly joining forces to exhibit with six companies in the brand New Spring Trials Greenhouses at GroLink, 4107 West Gonzales Road, Oxnard, CA. PlantHaven will be showcasing a range of exciting new products for 2012 season. Three highlights from PlantHaven for 2012 are: Hosta Liberty, Hosta of the Year for 2012. Plus for 2012/2013: Abutilon Lucky Lantern Red, Dianthus Coral Reef.

2011 Trial Updates

October is the month the Plants Team will be contacting you to check on your trials and evaluations programs for this past season. We will also be talking to you about lines to license for the coming year as well as new trial lines to add to your programs for 2012.

Here in Santa Barbara even with the first signs of autumn, our PlantHaven trial plants are putting on a final blaze of autumn color. Check out the images featuring some of the experimentals currently being evaluated to add to the Royal Hawaiian Colocasia Program. Magnolia Gardens are achieving great multiplication rates on the new for 2011 introduction: Colocasia Black Coral. Please talk to April to confirm your requirements for Spring 2012 supply. Fall is coming; the American sweet gums are starting to turn flame red on the road to the office but this is all good news. It means spring and a whole new year is not far away.

European Highlights Summer 2011

Maureen and Geoff have just landed back here in the states following a full on European trade show and licensee visit.

Plantarium 2011: The Netherlands
PHI was delighted to see several PlantHaven plants exhibited at the Show. We were especially delighted with the Pride of Place display of Gaillardia Fanfare Blaze at Florensis’ booth. Blaze attracted a lot of interest. Geoff and Maureen made new connections and renewed old acquaintances.

Green is Life 2011: Poland
Geoff and Maureen saw a wonderful display of Thuja ‘Janed Gold’. This exciting new selection is doing very well in Poland, which has similar, conditions to the continental US. ‘Janed Gold’ did well there compared to other golden Thuja that suffered from burning under Polish conditions. Because ‘Janed Gold’ has a more green yellow foliage color rather than golden yellow it did not burn in Poland and this seems to be the case here in the US also.

PHI exhibited for the first time at this show in Cheshire, England. We were pleased to meet existing and prospective breeder clients and international licensees. It was such a successful show for PHI that we will be exhibiting there again in 2012. We look forward to seeing you there.
