Koelreuteria ‘Coral Sun’
The Golden Raintree is well known as a beautiful landscape tree. However, with this new selection, early spring interest can be added to its long list of reasons to grow the genus! New growth emerges pure red and keeps this coloration for a much longer time than the species. As leaves progress to green, petioles and stem maintain the strong red color, completely unlike its parent. ‘Coral Sun’ has multiple applications for the consumer. After 10 years in trials this cultivar has not yet been known to flower. For areas where invasiveness is an issue this may prove a strong selling point.
